I've been using a neti pot to clear my nasal passages. Is it safe?

I got a bad ear infection from neti pot use. The doc thinks the water got into my eustachian tubes.

My migraines began in perimenopause (at 38) and have persisted beyond menopause. Will it ever stop or will it continue indefinitely?
