What is a "photofacial" and at what age could you get one? I've heard it reduces signs of aging.

A photofacial or IPL (Intense pulse light) is excellent for reducing signs of aging, discoloration and redness.  It is suited for many skin tones BUT if you have darker skin, then you need to find someone who specializes in your skin tone.  There is a risk for hypo-pigmentation  and burning if not done by the proper technician.  IPL is great if you have surface pigmentation, redness like broken capillaires and for tightening.  It stimulates collagen and elastin production because the laser insights a wound response.  Depending on your expectations or the depth of your discoloration or redness, will depend on how many you do.  It is very important that you are not in the sun at least 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after your get one.  It also feels like a hot rubber band flicking against your skin.  Also, no retin A before or after.  Retin A thins the skin, and again, you could burn.  A proper laser specialist will give you all the steps involved before getting one.  It is completely worth it and will love your skin afterwards!
