Kimberly Garrison, CPT, CYT, CNC(Certified: Personal Trainer, Yoga Teacher, Nutrition Consultant)answered(8/12/2012)Honestly, there are no exercises that can make you long and lean. Long and lean people were born that way, just as some people are born short and stocky and everything in between. With that said, 80% of maintaining a lean physique is your diet. In addition eating clean, performing strength/toning exercises like push-ups, dips, pull-ups, lunges, squats, and cardiovascular exercise like jumprope will give you the most bang for your buck.
Jacqueline Aizen(Registered Dietician)answered(8/25/2012)As a regular practitioner of yoga, in particular vinyasa flow, I find that it engages multiple muscle groups and is incredible for toning. With breathing as the focal point in yoga you have the cardiovascular aspect, and the resistance element by using your body weight. Although we can't choose the shape with which we are born, we can bring out the best elements physically through nourishing your body with whole foods and fitness.
