Pamela Warren, MS, CHN(Certified Holistic & Clinical Nutritionist)answered(8/6/2012)For chronic yeast infections, it's a great idea to keep dry and in addition wearing cotton that breathes whenever possible rather than synthetic that tend to add to the moisture.
Your yeast infection is generally an indication that your intestinal flora is not well balanced. You can create better intestinal balance of the flora by using probiotics. Probiotics are the good bacteria lining our intestines. You need more of the good to offset the yeast infection. Probiotic foods are yogurt and kefir. Probiotics can be purchased as supplements to provide billions of cells that will help to relieve the situation once the flora are in better balance. The 3 most important probiotic strains to create better balance, and the ones that have been scientifically tested most are: Lactobacillus Acidophilus (gasseri), Bifidobacterium Bifidum and Bifidobacterium Longum.
There is generally no need to take probiotic supplements that have more than these 3 strains. These are the ones that do the job best and studies show they are most efficient at creating balanced health. For more info check out my website.
Brie Mathers(Eating Disorders and Body Image Specialist)answered(7/31/2012)There's a lovely product called Yin Care. It is a blend of herbs that you can apply topically. I would recommend having your adrenals nourished with acupuncture and siberian ginseng as adrenal fatiuge can be an underlying condition to the liver giving out and generating this symptom. You are not dirty or toxic. You are tired. Your organs need support. Make sure you get to bed early and take a good acidophillus supplement.
Bob Smithing, MSN, NP, FAANP(Family Nurse Practitioner)answered(2/11/2013)The Monistat products work well for treating yeast infection. All work and they are readily available. If it is a recurrent infection then I'd talk with your nurse practitioner.

Laurel P.answered(4/28/2013)Azo Yeast is a great, affordable everyday probiotic and boric acid (one bottle will last you years) in size 0 veggie capsules (you buy these separately) inserted into the vagina three times a day until the infection is gone is a super cheap and effective treatment. You'll need to wear a panty liner though. Monostat always burned me and is expensive. You can get all this at a Fred Meyer. Super convenient.

Anonymousanswered(3/14/2013)I got a yeast infection while I was on a antibiotic and my doctor told me to eat yogurt at least three times a day until it was gone, preferably greek yogurt. There's something in there that gets rid of the yeast. Try that along with monistat and it should be gone in no time.

Flotusanswered(3/14/2013)I've had chronic yeast infections for years until I started taking probiotics orally and vaginally. I use Florastor recommended by my gastroenterologist (cheapest price is Costco) and Luvena prebiotic (online at Walgreens).
I'm also on corticosteriods and immune suppressants due to a chronic illness which exacerbates yeast infections but those still worked. That's my testimony.
