Jillian Wright(Clinical Aesthetician & Spa Owner)answered(8/19/2012)I always tell my clients to use an spf of 30 or higher everyday including the winter months. There are many oil-free and light-weight formulas on the market. Put it on in the morning for daily use but if you are going to be outdoors, I would say apply mid-afternoon as well. You may have to change your make up routine in order to accommodate this, but it is worth saving your skin from sun-damage and pre-mature aging.
Daniela Ferri(Licensed Esthetician, Acne Specialist)answered(8/24/2012)I learned a fantastic method to tell how much you should use :
The amount needed to cover your entire face down to your neck and chest area, around the back of your neck and the tops of your ears, is two quarter-inch wide strips down the entirety of the insides of your first and second fingers. Cool, huh? :)
Dr. Cindy Cobb, Nurse Practitioner(Women's Health Nurse Practitioner - Cosmetics/Aesthetics)answered(8/21/2012)I am in total agreement with Jillian. A SPF of 30 should be worn daily. Also to be considered would be the use of a product containing a physical block (titanium and/or zinc). This provides protection against UVA rays while the SPF provides protection against UVB rays. A product with both of these considerations would provide excellent overall coverage. The key is daily use...no matter if the sun is shining or not.
Jillian Wright(Clinical Aesthetician & Spa Owner)answered(8/21/2012)I'd say a dime size amount. Feather it in your fingers first, then work it into the skin.

CHIgirlanswered(8/21/2012)Thanks for this advice. To be more specific, I was wondering what
physical amount I should put on my face - a dime size? a quarter size? I
don't want to be responsible but apply the product incorrectly!
