Hana A. Feeney, MS, RD(Nutrition Coach)answered(6/20/2012)Coconut water is hydrating and high in potassium....I don't think it's the end-all-be-all for hangovers, but since it does taste good and it has the important electrolyte potassium, you are likely to rehydrate better with coconut water, and that DOES cure a hangover!
Daniela Knight MS, RD, LD(Registered Dietitian)answered(12/11/2012)Although coconut water is lower in calories and sodium and higher in potassium than many sports drinks, it's not a cure-all for a hangover. It certainly wouldn't hurt, but it's not a magic cure. You could do the same with lots of water and a banana.
Kimberly Garrison, CPT, CYT, CNC(Certified: Personal Trainer, Yoga Teacher, Nutrition Consultant)answered(8/21/2012)I doubt that it's a cure for hangovers. In fact, I think it's much ado about nothing. For proper hydration drink water, and eat a banana for potassium. The best cure for a hangover is prevention:-)

Molly Panswered(8/22/2012)My best friend got incredibly drunk at her bachelorette party just a couple days before her wedding! The day after she was throwing up everything--she couldn't even keep down water OR Pedialyte. By early afternoon we gave her coconut water (plus some pepto to calm her stomach) and she soon thereafter started feeling better--right before the rehearsal dinner! Close call but a fun time :)
