Applying body lotion morning and night seems to do the trick!  Most body lotions only last about 12 hours.  I love the Organix Coconut body lotion because it is lightweight, smells amazing which motivates me to apply it twice a day.  With so many lotions on the market with different consistencies, it is hard to choose.  A gentle exfoliation once or twice a week loosens the dead skin cells which allows the lotion to absord better, plus your skin will be softer. Try a body exfoliator with sugar and olive oil instead of salt or glycolic.  Another option is to tak a bath, not so hot and pour in some Burt's Bee's lemon and vitamin E bath oil.  Pat your skin dry when you are finished and don't rub too hard!  you can also apply it directly onto yuor skin.

You should apply as often as needed to keep it not dry. Cerave is an expensive product but for some people it works really well. Jojoba oil is another that goes on and is not sticky. The key would be to take lukewarm or cold baths. soak until you are prune-y, then get out, dab dry quickly and slather on oil/cream to seal in that liquid you just got from soaking in the bath.

also try drying yourself off with a wet towel after a shower/bath (this leaves the skin moist but not bone dry) and immediately slather on your fave lotion/cream

In addition to how often to apply, you also may want to consider how to choose the best lotion for your skin. My skin always does best with something with no fragrance and minimal ingredients.

I have found that ingesting a tablespoon of coconut oil a day has help my dry skin. TIP: Try putting the coconut oil on toast with some jam on top or add chocolate to a spoonful.
