Be sure to eat lots of protein (lean meat, chicken, eggs, and even tofu), fresh vegetables and fruit, and minimal amounts of starchy carbohydrates. All carbohydrates should be 100% whole grain, and portion sizes should be kept to 1/2 cup or 1 slice, depending on the food. Eat the carbs in combination with protein, including vegetables or fruit.

It is also best to stay away from table salt, processed and packaged foods as well as alcohol to keep bloating to a minimum. Before going to any party, be sure to eat something small and healthy, so you are not tempted to overindulge in foods that will make you feel bloated once you are there.

On a final note, during the three days leading up to your party, juicing vegetables one or two times a day is a great way to flush toxins, reduce water-retention and feel full and satisfied. You can find affordable juicers online, and make your own drinks at home!

Salt and alcohol can cause bloating. Try to avoid using table salt (season foods with salt free herbs and spices) and minimize processed foods. Processed meats (deli meats, bacon, hot dogs, sausage, etc.) can be especially salty. Definitely drink lots of water and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Focus on fresh whole foods (lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, etc.) and eat as little packaged foods as possible. Enjoy!

In addition to what Andrea said be aware of the foods you choose when you eat out. Sodium is found in processed foods, packaged meals, deli meats and foods we choose in restaurants. Often times you can order your food with no added salt, skip the fried foods, heavy sauces and portion out your condiment use (e.g., soy sauce). If you need to add flavor to your foods without the sodium try herbs, spices or freshly squeeze lemon. Many restaurants have the nutrition facts available. Be sure to choose the meal that contains the least amount of sodium.

Kashi GoLean fiber cereal sends everything right through me—I don't know how to put this without sounding crass—but a girl who poops often is one whose metabolism is functioning and fast! This is also why you'll want to drink tons of water. I also don't know if it's mental, but Greek yogurt always makes me feel thin.
