Melicia Escobar, MSN, CNM(Certified Nurse Midwife)answered(7/20/2012)Jock it is a fungal infection and can be transmitted via skin to skin contact. The good new is that it is easily treated with anti-fungal medication! Avoid contact during treatment up to a week or once it has resolved.
If jock itch/athlete's foot is a routine problem for your partner, for maintenance and prevention hygiene measure help (keeping the area clean and dry), washing with a quality tea tree based soap regularly, immune boosting, including daily probiotics may help.
See your gyn if you develop symptoms so infection can be confirmed and treated.
