The blood that you had may have been from slightly tearing part of the hymen that may have still been intact. But women know when they have penetration for the first time - actually, it's pretty hard not to as the first intercourse can be both painful and pleasurable. My guess is that the blood you had was from some friction from rubbing your genitals against one another's.
