Ovulation Smells So Sexy

Your Natural Scent May Be Powerful Man Magnet

As Discovery News reports, you may become a guy magnet when you're ovulating. A study out of Florida State University found that the male brain can detect the scent of an ovulating woman and, in turn, responds all sexy-like.

The study examined men's testosterone levels, which are linked with sexual arousal, after smelling t-shirts worn by ovulating and non-ovulating women, as well as a control group of t-shirts worn by no one. In the first experiment, men who smelled ovulating women's shirts had 37 percent higher testosterone levels than those who smelled non-ovulating women's shirts. In the second experiment, those who smelled ovulating women's shirts had testosterone levels 15 percent higher than the men who smelled non-ovulating women's shirts or the shirts worn by no one. This may be because the male brain can detect rising estrogen or related chemicals involved in ovulation. Since ovulation is the time when a woman is most fertile, this response indicates that the male subjects' bodies may have been physically priming themselves for the act of mating.

It was assumed for a long time that women didn't give off obvious mating clues, maybe because we like thinking of ourselves as a notch above baboons in estrus. But psychologists have discovered that we do give off subtle clues when we're ovulating: we flirt more, have more sexual fantasies and are more attracted to gladiator types. Now we can add another subtle natural clue of ours to the list: Eau de Ovulating Femme.

While the research lab is a far cry from a happy hour meat market, researchers expect the odor emanating from a real woman to be stronger than that from a t-shirt.

So the next time you're about to get all Jersey Shore with the perfume, you might just want to go au natural. Just keep in mind that if you're ovulating, it's the prime time for you to become pregnant, so use common sense.
